We are pleased to provide you with the following information regarding practical arrangements for the upcoming AVIATION WEEK AFRICA to be held at the MULUNGUSHI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTRE, LUSAKA from 22 – 23 April 2024. The CSR & AIR SHOW to be held on 24 – 25 April, 2024 at the Zambia Air Force Military Base. The AWARDS GALA DINNER to be held at HOTEL INTER-CONTINENTAL ON 26th April, 2024. We hope that the information provided assists you in preparing before and during the period of the meeting.

Program for the Meeting

The meeting will start on 22nd April 2024 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre from 08:30 – 17.00hrs. There will be breaks for refreshments in the mornings and in the afternoons, as well as a lunch break. Participants are required to register and obtain meeting badges at the registration desk, which will be located in the Kenneth Kaunda Building, on 21st April 2024, from 09:30hrs to 19:00hrs.

Conference Material

All necessary materials/presentations will be distributed during the Summit on pare using a QR CODE. The draft agenda is posted on the AWA website. A final version will be UPLOADED prior to the commencement of the summit.

Visa Arrangements

Participants are encouraged to make their own arrangement to obtain visas before departing from their respective countries. The Government of the Republic of Zambia and AWA will provide all the necessary documentation needed to aid your visa processing. Participants travelling on COMESA or SADC Member States passports can obtain visa upon arrival in Zambia.

Travel Authorization

In preparing travel authorizations, participants are expected to arrive in Lusaka, Zambia on Sunday 21st April and depart on Saturday 27th April, 2024.

Weather

The month of April is characterized by essentially constant daily medium temperatures with daily highs around 26°C throughout the month, or dropping below 13°C. However, the weather in the evenings may get cold and you are therefore advised to carry a mix of wear. Temperatures average between 18°C/64°F in the morning and 29°C/84°F in the afternoon.

Security

Participants are encouraged:

● To pay attention to avoid pickpockets, especially in crowded areas, and do not leave their personal belongings unattended in public vehicles and restaurants.

● To avoid walking alone, especially in secluded alleys and at night and only use the Authorized Taxi by the Hotel/Lodge.

Transportation

Participants should send in their flight details to the hotel/lodge they have booked in so that the hotel/lodge can book the airport shuttle for them in advance. The shuttles from the hotels have a standard rate of $25.
 

Internet Access

24-hour free Internet access will be guaranteed in the hotel/lodge rooms for the total duration of the conference. Wireless Internet access will be provided during the meeting hours.

Local Time

Local time in Lusaka is 6 hours more than in New York: it is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) +2 hours.

 

Electricity Current

The voltage of electrical current in the Zambia is 230 volts – AC 50 Hz.
